Classical Physics
The branch of physics which includes most of the applications than any other branches, here matter and energy are treated as two separate concepts. Physics that does not make use of quantum mechanics or the theory of relativity is referred to be as Classical Physics. What Classical Physics refers to depends on the context. When discussing special relativity, it refers to the Newtonian physics which preceded relativity, i.e. the branches of physics based on principles developed before the rise of relativity and quantum mechanics. Classical Physics refers to the physics of bodies and forces, especially Newton’s laws of motion and the principles of mechanics based on them. When discussing general relativity, it refers to the result of modifying Newtonian physics to incorporate special relativity. When discussing quantum mechanics, it refers to non-quantum physics, including special relativity and general relativity. In other words, it is the physics preceding the physics of interest in one’s discussion.

Mechanics, dynamics, hydrodynamics, statics, optics, thermodynamics and acoustics, as well as the study of magnetism and electricity are all the various areas which all are discussed and values applied in Classical Physics. The above mentioned areas which have their most important contributions in classical physics are generally divided into several different areas by the great works of Sir Isaac Newton’s laws of motion and James Clerk Maxwell’s theory of electromagnetic radiation.

Some very common examples of Classical Physics are Newtonian mechanics, thermodynamics, and Maxwell’s theory of electromagnetism. When applied to extremely small objects, many theories in classical physics break down such as atoms or to objects moving near the speed of light. The laws of conservation of mass, conservation of energy and conservation of momentum are also very important to classical physics. They state that mass and energy can be neither created nor destroyed, and the momentum of an object will only be charged if an outside force acts on it.
