To understand life as we know it, we must first understand a little bit the miscellaneous and majestic concepts of Organic Chemistry. Organic Chemistry is the study of carbon and life. It is the study of properties of carbon that are organic. Organic Chemistry is a discipline within chemistry that involves the scientific study of the structure, properties, reactions and their preparations. All carbon compounds except for a few inorganic are organic. Inorganic carbon compounds include the oxides of carbon, the bicarbonates and carbonates and carbonates of metal ions, the metal cyanides, and a few others. Organic molecules contain carbon and hydrogen though many organic chemicals also contain other elements; it is the carbon-hydrogen bond that defines them as organic. Organic chemistry defines life just as there are millions of different types of living organism on this planet, there are millions of different organic molecules, each with different chemical and physical properties.

Inorganic Chemistry offers an overview of interesting reactions; it includes a searchable literature index, named reactions and protecting groups as well as a chemical database. Organic chemistry is a wonderful blend of what's known, what's not yet known, and how to apply this information to discover new knowledge. There's enough not yet known to keep it interesting and full of opportunity." There are more than six million known organic compounds. In addition to being plentiful, organic compounds are also unique. This is because carbon atoms have the ability to form strong bonds with many different elements. Carbon atoms are also able to bond covalently to other carbon atoms, while simultaneously forming strong bonds with other nonmetal atoms. Organic compounds are structurally diverse. The range of application of organic compounds is enormous. They either form the basis of or are important constituents of many products including plastics, drugs, petrochemicals, food, explosives and paints. They form the basis of all earthly life processes (with very few exceptions). Clearly, organic chemistry is critically important to our high standard of living.
